We spring ahead ... Sunday, 10th March 2013
As there was no early morning weather forecast, we slept in
until 7:30 EDT. After breakfast we went
to shore to explore the north end of Stocking Island. We stumbled along a nature trail and then
made our way to the Exuma Sound side.
Here the surf action was impressive.
We met a lovely couple from Scotland. They had crossed the Atlantic and
spent the last four years exploring the Caribbean. We are very impressed with folks who can do
those long passages.
In the afternoon, we went to the St. Francis to post the
blog and catch up on e-mail. On the deck
there we bumped into Nigel and Ann who had been at the Emerald Bay marina. The introduced us to Jack and Carol from
Maine. As it turns out Jack and Carol
are friends of Lynn and Lee. They had met last year in the Abaco. We had a fun time chatting to these four and
even managed to get some e-mailing done.
Sunset was shortly after 7:00 and accompanied by lots of
conch blowing. This seems to be quite
the cruiser’s tradition. I’m not sure
where it originated. The sound is
indescribable. It’s reminiscent of
bagpipes without the tune.
