The Cold Front

The Cold Front   …   Thursday 14th March 2013

The cold front arrived as predicted in the early hours of Thursday morning. By the time we got up it was blowing strongly from the north, but we were in an excellent position sheltered by Stocking island. We headed off in the dinghy wrapped up in rain gear to protect against the spray and made our way northwest to Monument beach where we took a long walk around the island. The Atlantic / Exuma Sound side was impressive with big waves pounding the coastline and sending wash well up the beach. We had to time a couple of sections to avoid getting soaked. After our hike we headed south in the dinghy and went into the St Francis bar and restaurant for lunch. It was lovely sitting on the deck eating fresh tuna warps, grilled chicken sandwiches and fries washed down with a cold Kalik. It was after 4pm by the time we got back to "Cotinga" and we were very pleased to have had such a fun day in less than ideal weather. The remained of the day we spent relaxing on the boat, working up photos and chatting. Dinner was chicken scampi and broccoli followed by the art of Gloria's home made key lime pie.
