Squalls and Cold Front … Friday 5th April 2013
This morning we continued doing odd jobs on the boat, including topping up the tanks with diesel from Jerry cans and re-filling them at the local gas station. However, we were rudely interrupted during this particular job by a squall that came through the area ahead of the expected cold front. It was exciting in that we briefly had gusts of 40 mph wind and it rained like crazy for about an hour. The stormy weather also impacted flights out of Nassau airport and consequently Bob Knowles was a little delayed in his arrival, but only by about an hour. Bob has joined us for our passage back to Florida and it will be a great help having him on board. The afternoon was really hot and muggy so it was a real pleasure to have a cold beer in the cockpit once Bob had stored his gear. Lee and Lynn joined us for dinner aboard (Bouilliabaise) and afterwards we sat out in the cockpit in totally calm conditions. Then, as if by magic, the wind picked up and started to blow form the north, announcing the passage of the cold front or perhaps just another squall. As far as we are concerned the sooner the front passes and the post-frontal northerly winds blow out, the sooner the seas will settle down and we can be on our way to Florida.

p.s. Once we do get going, possibly tomorrow (Sunday) morning we will be out of contact for 3-4 days
