Last Minute Preparations

Last Minute Preparations

Tuesday February 2, 2021

We had convinced ourselves that Tasha was arriving on Monday.  It seems odd that once we realized our mistake, we didn’t use the extra time to get ready in a more leisurely manner....

While Mike went back to Publix through the incredible wind-storm, I worked on cleaning the cockpit and the galley. After that, Mike finished cooking up the giant vat of chili that he had been working on yesterday.  We had a portion of it for lunch.  A second portion we set aside to take round to the air B&B for Tasha and McKenzie (so that they would have something ready after their tiring travels.) Then we emptied and refilled our water tanks.  We got to thinking that the water in the port tank had been sitting there quite a while (at least 6 weeks).  It seemed like a good idea to replace it with fresh.  The starboard tank was probably pretty low also.  If we needed another job to keep us busy, we emptied a propane tank today. That will be a task for another day.

We put together the chili and a set of staples for our visitors and walked down to their Air B&B on Simonton. After dropping the food parcel at their flat, we walked around looking for good sunset photo venues. These seem to be wildly popular spots in Key West.  The so-called “southernmost spot in the continental US” was heaving with people.  It wasn’t exactly where I wanted to be during the middle of a pandemic! I resorted to the double masks.

Now we are back on Cotinga – Tasha and McKenzie have arrived in Key West are coming over soon so I’m signing out for the night!
