The Family visit … Sunday 2nd Sept 2012
Gloria's sister liz and her parents arrived on the dot of 11am. We had brought "Cotinga" into the end dock at Dysart's Marina but it was still a fair trek for Gloria's mum to get to the boat. However, she did a great job and in no time we had everyone on board and set off for the mooring - all off a 100 yards away - to relax, talk and eat lunch (Braised steak au poivre in red wine, bake potatoes and broccoli). Unfortunately the weather wasn't so great, but we waited for the light rain to ease up, and at about 3pm we put up the dodger and extension and took off on a short motor around the bay at the southern end of Mt desert Island. it was actually very atmospheric with grey skies and metallic flat seas. All too soon we were back on the dock and saying our goodbyes at the end of a lovely visit. Gloria's folks are getting quite elderly and we had worried about all the things that might go wrong, but in the end everything went perfectly and we were so pleased that they were able to make it down.
