I’ve been planning to walk up the road to the ridge for many
days now, but it’s steep, really steep. Dave ran up there one morning but he
eats iron bars for breakfast and crushes rocks between his fingers … and even
he confessed to having to walk some of it! But yesterday afternoon I ran out of
excuses and set off in the mid-afternoon heat. It took me about an hour to get
to the top and it was well worth it. There were great views to the north and
south. It was interesting to walk past the houses built on to the slopes, with
their fantastic views over the ocean and islands. I managed get back down in
time for a quick shower and then dinner and drinks at the local seaside bar
with some of the people from the rally who recently returned from short cruises
around the BVIs. It was a fun evening.
Sea Cow Bay - just to the east of Nanny Cay
Nanny Cay marina from the road up the ridge
Looking north-east from the ridge across the top of a house that lost it's roof
Looking north-west from the same position towards Jost Van Dyke
Three delightful guys from BVI Marine Management at Nanny Cay - Trevon (sp?), Anil and Randy
A lady sitting on the porch of her home on top of the ridge
This is Ben - a friendly guy who runs a yacht repair and detailing business and I photographed him at the marina in Sea Cow Bay. A couple of day later I bumped into him again and his wife at the supermarket in Road Town ... getting to know the locals!
