Just one day until Gloria arrives! I’m so excited and up
early, full of energy to tackle today’s jobs. I get a marvelous hot shower and
wander back to Cotinga as the sun rises. What could be better? I see a lady on
the dock stroking a grey cat, the very same grey cat that I found in the main
cabin of my boat when I got up a few days ago, the very same grey cat that I
now notice appears to have crapped in our dinghy. One of the joys of cruising
is that we’re on the boat and our two “lovely” cats, Tiger and Magic, are not. We did try taking them on a short cruise back
in 2012, they were violently seasick, lying prostrate on the cabin floor blowing
out of both ends. Not a pleasant experience for any of us, although I confess
to looking back on it with a sweet sense of revenge. Our cats can be delightful, but they do have a bit of a tendency to throw up (British understatement). For the next six
months, our friend Sheila has kindly offered to look after them. Sheila we
can’t thank you enough! My thought is that if the cats were
stuffed we could still stroke them, sit them on our knees and have the same quality
conversations we have with them now, without ever having to clean up after
them. I sense a business opportunity … “Feline Furbies” (without the audibles
of course) – “turn your cat into an adorable companion with no mess … or your
money back”. returning to the real world, I can feel my enthusiasm and expectation for
the day diminishing as I realize that I have to get a bucket of detergent,
paper towels, plastic bag and clean up
this cat-crap. Can you imagine if I just leave it and it rains and ends up in the
bilge of the dinghy … yuck.
The guilty party ... crapped in our dinghy!
Snake eyes ... very friendly, but fundamentally evil !

Hi Mike and Gloria. Imagine that you have finally caught up with each other..happy times! Did you get my e-mail about travel arrangement? Hopefully we can find effective means of communication as my trip gets closer!!:) Sxx
ReplyDeleteSimon - I love your boyish enthusiasm and optimism. We've known each other for close to 40 years and "effective means of communication" has always been a stretch !!! Seriously, we did get your email and can't wait to see you. After Tasha's visit (25/12 - 3/1) we will be looking for weather windows to get east and south and will be in St Lucia by 1st Feb. I promise to try and be better at staying touch! x Mike
