Back on the boat … 11th August 2012
It's been a busy couple of weeks. On Sunday July 29th we moved out of our house and the three of us (Mike, Gloria and Tasha) flew to England to spend some time with friends and family. We had a great trip catching up with people, eating and drinking lots and watching the Olympics on TV. It's just possible that in time Tasha will forgive us for traveling to the UK and not actually going to any of the live events. It was fun to at least be close and in the same time zone and feel the excitement of the coverage in real time.
Yesterday we flew back to Boston and drove down to East Greenwich. We put some stuff aboard the boat, but spent the night with Paul and Fran (Gloria's brother and sister in law). Tasha was getting ready to set off on her cross country road trip back to Pomona. The weather was also somewhat extreme with torrential rain dropping more than 2 inches of rain in about an hour. Of course this is precisely when we chose to be out and about - we all got soaked. There was an inch of water in the cup of the inside door handle of that car just from opening the door to load groceries!
This morning Tasha headed out and Gloria and brought the boat into the dock and with the help of Paul and Fran, fitted our new main sail - which looks grand! We spent the afternoon doing laundry and this evening headed up East Greenwich cove to a quieter mooring, away from the live music that typically blasts out from the restaurants along the waterfront. I should add - we have nothing against live music, in fact we went to a great concert in Portland (Blind Pilot) that Tasha got us tickets before we left for the UK - but right now we are a bit knackered and need some sleep! Hope to get photos up soon!
