Possible return to “Normal” life?

Possible return to “Normal” life?

Friday March 12, 2021

The President is telling us that if we just keep on with our mask wearing and social distancing (and take the vaccine when we can get it) we can start to go back to normal life in July.  As much as I would like to think that Biden is right, the picture in Florida is not at all encouraging. This morning found us at the Publix supermarket.  For the second time, I saw a meat department worker (same guy both times) with his mask below his nose.  Today, he was actually talking to a customer with his mask displaced. I expect better of the employees of the supermarket - although, I see a lot of this all around Florida. I could rant on but it’s probably better to leave that topic.

This afternoon we cycled along to the start of the seven-mile bridge and did some fishing.  It was rough on the water with lots of chop in the bay.  Occasionally a wave would break over the sea wall.  Our impression was that it’s even windier on the north side of the island than here in the harbor.  The bike ride back to the marina was right into the wind—not quite as easy as the outward leg.  It’s fish for dinner tonight.

We are still studying the weather forecast.  It looks like the wind intensity (and the seas) will decline a bit on Sunday but remain easterly.  On Monday the wind speed picks back up although the direction starts to turn more to the southeast. Neither option seems super attractive, to be honest.  Tomorrow we have to make a decision based on the best information we’ve got. It feels like we’ve been hanging around here a long time. Mike describes Marathon as a truck stop on US highway 1!

I look like a professional fisherman and Gloria's comment that we ate fish for dinner implies a successful afternoon fishing. If I tell you we had salmon for dinner you can make your own judgement !

  1. Pretty funny about the fish. I wondered when it was left ambiguous!
