Hanging out in Les
Saintes … Wed
21st March
I think it’s wonderful here! Bourg des Saintes, and the Saintes
overall, are one of the nicest, easy-going places we have visited so far. Yes
it is hot during the day, particularly if you are hiking around, but it cools
off nicely in the evening and the anchorage is fairly flat, except for the
passing ferries, which aren’t an issue at night. Not too much to report here. We’ve
walked a number of trails on the islands, none of which is more than a mile or
two long, although there are quite a few hills! I managed to get out yesterday
evening and take some low light photos, which was fun. We’ve also done a little
re-provisioning but plan to do a major shop and fill up with water and diesel
once we get to Antigua. Some of our friends have already moved on and Taiko and
Numada head out tomorrow. So tonight we are going to get together for a
pot-luck dinner. Our immediate plans are to leave tomorrow morning and sail north
across the Guadeloupe canal and up the west coast to Pigeon island. It looks
like a bout a 25 mile trip. Pigeon Island is supposed to have good snorkeling so
we’ll spend a couple of nights there before going on to Deshaies on Saturday.

There are lots of beautiful tropical flowers such as this spectacular hibiscus
