A day that got away

A day that got away

Thursday January 21, 2021

What can I really say about today?  After breakfast, I cleaned the forward and aft heads while Mike applied another coat of varnish to the teak “eyebrow”.  Later I helped Mike (a little bit) as he removed the self-steering in preparation for our stern-to “Mediterranean Style” docking at Key West.  Then we had lunch.  Lunch was followed, in my case, by a long period of complete indolence.  I read my book and drowsed in the cockpit for hours.  Mike went off to do some grocery shopping.  After a while I did a little more cleaning in the galley and started on dinner preparation.

Once Mike got back it was all systems go!  We went to the marina for showers (and to get Thai basil from the herb garden) and then back to the boat to finish dinner preparations.  Now that dinner (Thai Drunken Noodles) has been cooked and eaten, I’m going back to total sloth... There is something very restorative about a day doing very little.

Ditto - the sun was really low and the light was excellent

Our last view from the cockpit before we headed below for Gloria's excellent Thai Drunken Noodle with shrimp. (The bridge is the now defunct bascule bridge near the harbor entrance)
