Easter Sunday
1 April 2018
If I were really clever, I’d write a fake post for today
(April Fools). Lucky for you, I’m not
that clever.
After breakfast, we went to shore with the objective of
walking south from Jolly harbor past some small ponds to the beach at Valley
Church bay. We strolled along to the
first of the ponds and enjoyed spotting some birds. In addition to the usual snowy egrets, we saw
great egrets, tricolor herons, a little blue heron, a juvenile night heron
(identity uncertain), perched frigate birds and black necked stilts. We
wandered down a dirt track toward the beach and were stunned by the lovely
colors of the water all across the bay.
Mike enjoyed a photographic session while I enjoyed sitting in the shade
of a sea grape tree (complete with grapes).
After returning to the marina, we ate lunch at the only cafe
open on Easter Sunday. Mike had a plate
of mussels that were very good. The less said about my lunch the better! Thus
fortified, we returned to the super market. Laden down with provisions we
returned to the boat. Mike prepared meat
sauce for spaghetti. A quick swim
intervened before last minute preparations for our guest. Ted from s/v ‘North Star’ joined us for
dinner. We had a fun evening and are
hoping to still be awake when boater’s midnight arrives.
I don't claim to be an expert on beaches but the Valley Church bay beach would be a contender for the most beautiful beach in the world ... check out the following shots ...
