A New Year Dawns

A New Year Dawns

Friday January 1, 2021

To think that just a year ago we had hardly taken in that there was a “new virus” in China.  Those first reports did not raise alarm bells in my mind.  Having heard about SARS and MERS, which did not turn out to be major health threats, I expected that the same would apply to this virus.  Talk about being completely mistaken.  As my brother Rod pointed out, more US citizens have died of Covid-19 than the number of US service personnel killed in WW2. It’s staggering. What we seem to be hearing is that we have a long way to go before the picture is going to start to improve.

We are still whittling down the list of jobs. The New Year’s holiday presented a roadblock to filling our third propane tank. The company had the audacity to close for the day.  We will try to get that done on Saturday.  We were more successful with getting provisions, doing laundry and filling our gasoline jerry can.  It’s so great to have access to a car to be able to do these tasks.  Bicycling with propane tanks in not for the faint of heart.

I can’t finish without mentioning the highlight of the day … champagne in the cockpit with Susan and Clark! A perfect way to spend the first afternoon of the New Year. Thanks for the bubbles!
