Hobby Time

Hobby Time

Monday 7th September 2020

We opted not to move on this morning but to spend an extra day in Linekin Bay. From here we need to go south-south-west for about 15 miles to clear Cape Small and with winds expected to gust to 20-25 knots and very short period swells both from more or less that direction, we figured it would be hard work and probably uncomfortable so we decided to hang around an extra day and enjoy some “hobby” time. With a whole day free Gloria decided to get out her sewing machine and start work on her latest quilt project. For those of you haven’t seen, Gloria makes incredibly beautiful quilts in all sorts of creative styles. In 2012-3 she hand stitched a quilt that has been hanging on our kitchen wall for the past several years, but is now with us on the boat (see photo below). We now have a sewing machine that we carry on the boat and Gloria worked hard before we left to make sure she had all the materials for two projects. Anyway, while Gloria had a fun day on the boat, I went ashore to take photos. I wandered around a different part of the Lobster Cove Preserve and then headed into Boothbay harbor. Here I found a restaurant with well distanced outdoor dining, so I ate fried haddock, French fries and Caesar salad whilst sitting at a picnic table overlooking the harbor. Half an hour later I was sucked into an ice cream shop and rounded out me meal with home-made cherry ice cream in a waffle cone. It’s a rough life! Tomorrow we move on.
