The Dangers …

The Dangers …

June 2, 2021

There is the danger of eating your lunch with your sunglasses suspended around your neck.  If you are a messy eater (and I certainly am), once you finish your sandwich and lift your sunglasses to your face, you shower yourself with breadcrumbs.  Even if you spot this abundance of crumbs before tipping up the specs, there’s really no way to get rid of the crumbs without dousing yourself. You can start to see how my day unfolded.

Then there were the potatoes that I got out from behind the settee, as they were needed for the evening meal.  At least half of them were rotten and there was a highly odorous “soup” in the bottom of the storage box.  I think Mike was gagging at the smell.  At anchor, it’s hard to develop an ecologically friendly solution to a box of rotting potatoes.  I’ll leave that to your imagination.

We left Annapolis this morning and made our way northward to the Sassafras River.  The forecast for tomorrow includes scattered thunderstorms and possibly severe thunderstorms along with winds 10-15 gusting to 25.  This makes us think that we might have to spend the day right here in the Sassafras.  It doesn’t sound like a good day for transit of the C-D canal and anchoring in the Delaware Bay.  Our plan was to look at the forecast as it evolved tonight and tomorrow morning.  However, as we have no cell reception here, that could be a bit challenging.

Kopasetic was on a mooring in Annapolis. They passed us on our way north and we followed them all the way to the anchorage and dropped hook a few hundred yards away. They left early the following morning.
