Annapolis Revisited
Tuesday 1st June
The harbor at Annapolis is cozy and well protected but there is so much boat traffic that their wakes make you feel as if you are sitting in a washing machine. It’s quieter in the mornings and we did get some boat jobs done, but this afternoon whilst sitting down in the cabin, for literally the first time since we moved aboard last August, I felt a little seasick. Gloria had felt the same way yesterday afternoon shortly after we arrived here. So we took the dinghy to the dock (about a 30 second ride) and took showers at the boaters’ bathroom facilities. Then we wandered around town before going out for a delicious Thai dinner at a restaurant called Lemongrass on the outskirts of town. It was pretty cool because they had a marquee tent set up adjacent to the restaurant with picnic tables and it was comfortable sitting outside. The food was also very good. After dinner I drove Gloria back to Cotinga then returned to shore to do some night-time photography. It’s actually a bit of a misnomer because late evening gives you the best light, once the sky has turned deep blue, but before it is pitch black. In reality that’s a relatively small time window.
Earlier today we did fill up our water diesel tanks by taking jerry cans to the dock and filling them up there. We do need to empty our septic system but the pump-out boat only works Wednesday through Sunday. So tomorrow we’ll try to make contact as soon as they are up and running and get the earliest possible pump-out so that we can head out.

Great shots Mike. Too bad you still can't get into the Naval Academy to see the ship models. I really enjoyed and was impressed by them when I saw them back in 1999.
ReplyDeleteThe photos are fantastic Mike, especially the mural!
