To Marsh harbor
18th May 2018
We slept in a little later as we didn’t feel quite so
compelled to listen to Chris Parker’s forecast.
We ate breakfast and got going to take full advantage of the rising
tide. The route to Marsh Harbor zigzags
back and forth across the bank for a total distance of 14 miles. We noted that
the wind was still gusting above 20 kts and kicking up steep chop. While we did see some skinny water, we also
saw depths in excess of 20 feet.
We were surprised to see that there is more to Marsh Harbor
than we remembered. I suspect that’s
more related to poor memory rather than any major change in the town. We ate
some lunch then launched the dinghy and took the 4 bags of trash to shore. Then it was time to start the cleaning. Mike worked on the aft cabin while I started
in the v-berth. By the time I got to the
galley area, it was time for a cup of tea.
More cleaning fun can be had tomorrow...
After showers, we went into the local bar (Snappa’s) for
dinner. While the food wasn’t that
special, it was a change of pace. Now
it’s eight ‘clock and I’m contemplating an early night.
We probably should have listened to the forecast, the chance
of a tropical low developing has increased.
Most models now seem to agree.
This is not good news for us....

Marsh Harbor! You both must be so relieved. Your Mona Passage post was fantastic, I am so glad you took the time to write it even though you were exhausted.
ReplyDeleteMike and Gloria, every time I sit down to read your blog I open up Google Maps satellite view and Weather.com. With your commentaries and photos I'm almost there. And then half my day is gone, especially on a rainy day like today. Looking forward to seeing you folks soon.
