A Fun and Relaxing Day

A Fun and Relaxing Day

We both slept well last night and woke feeling somewhat rejuvenated after our long passage. We spent the morning cleaning the boat. This is a never ending job that we need to stay on top of. The warm, humid conditions are a perfect environment for growing mold and developing those lovely “boaty” smells that are hard to detect when you are living amongst them, but all too obvious to everyone else! So we cleaned as best we could and then locked down the boat and ran our ozone generator for 45 minutes. Gloria and I stayed in the cockpit whilst doing this because ozone is really toxic. When the timer on the machine finished we threw open all the hatches and thoroughly aired the boat. It seems clean and fresh to us … but maybe we are not the ones to judge.

Later in the afternoon Paul and Fran and Susan and Clark came over to Cotinga for drinks and dinner. It was a lovely afternoon and evening, sitting in the cockpit chatting, watching the “action” in the harbor, which mostly consists of dinghies and small boats moving around, plus the occasional larger vessel coming in to the dock or a mooring. We could also see dolphins swimming around the mooring field. The weather has been perfect, with warm temperatures, blue skies and light refreshing breezes.

It’s great to relax and enjoy the moment.
